THE LORD IS NEAR

Posted: July 12, 2012 in Shared Thoughts

By David Wilkerson  [May 19, 1931 – April 27, 2011]

God is more prepared to keep His promises to you than the devil is to ruin you.
Indeed, no matter how near the enemy comes to you, the Lord is all the nearer.

“They draw nigh that follow after mischief; they are far from thy law. Thou art
near . . .” (Psalm 119:150-151). David said, in other words, “God, if my enemies
are drawing so near to destroy me, You are all the nearer in my time of need.”

The Hebrew word for near in this verse connotes “defense.” It means, “I am near
you to defend you.” God says He is especially near to defend the downcast and
brokenhearted:

* “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name
is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite
and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart
of the contrite ones” (Isaiah 57:15).
* “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as
be of a contrite spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

Are you a child of God? Does the Lord Jesus live in you? God says He is near to
you in your anguish. Here is His promise to you:

“I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the
waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow
thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither
shall the flame kindle upon thee.

“For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour. . . . Since
thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved
thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. Fear not:
for I am with thee” (Isaiah 43:1-5).

David saw God as holding him “. . . by my right hand” (Psalm 73:23). He said,
“God not only is near me, but He is walking with me, hand in hand, through this
whole mess. Let all my enemies come after me. I’ve got my hand in the Father’s!”

Moreover, David said God talked to him, giving him counsel and guidance: “Thou
shalt guide me with thy counsel” (verse 24).

America

The following is a re-submittal of my old America blog posts series. HOWEVER, everything has been considerably rewritten with additional material and chapters in to my book “The Eighth Beast.”  My preference of course would be that you invested your time reading the book, but nonetheless I am leaving this page available  for a short time longer online as well, for due to publication terms agreement both will be coming down soon. God bless…

Biblical End Times Players of Revelation (America series – part one)

Because of the “times and seasons” I have been feeling a need to clarify my position on the main players mentioned in Revelation chapter 13-19. This is a topic that has always been in the forefront of my walk with Christ for almost a quarter of a century.  I say that not to convey any type of obsession with Revelations, it just seems to be one of the main topic apart from the Gospel that the Lord has kept me attentive to while watching and praying. Perhaps it has to do with what the Lord impressed upon me long ago. The thoughts I am intending to share over the next few of posts are reflections which over that time have come to offer the most clarity in my view of end time events and players. Much of it has unsettled me personally during that time and obligated me to make many adjustments in my own life and commitments. Sadly, the sharing of my convictions has proven to cause many of my family and friends to become angry over them.

To start, I would like to say that my thoughts are usually very different than most who have unquestioningly ingested the perspective of the admittedly fictional “Left Behind” series with its “16 best-selling novels” by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. Sadly, to me that fact alone seems only to affirm the truth spoken under unction of the Holy Spirit that in the latter times men would not be able to endure sound doctrine. But instead they would swallow the mere fables of men as if it were the truth of God which only serves to promote doctrines of devils instead. I still chuckle to myself when I remember a comment I once overheard someone make about Moses and his appearance . . . because they saw Charleston Hesston in the movie The Ten Commandments.

The Eighth Beast (America Series – part two)

This is part two following “Biblical End Time Players of Revelation.” In this post I wish to deal with “the eighth beast.”

In seeking to understand the meaning of this prophetic symbol the “Beast,” it is impossible to find a higher authority than God’s own scriptures birthed by the Holy Ghost’s inspiration and consequently must serve as its own interpreter. Therefore, what is understood by the term “Beast” in one prophetic vision is most likely the same intent when the term is utilized elsewhere in similar passages of Scriptures. What adds certainty to the intent is when God has employed His holy messengers to bring absolute clarity to the visions God has given unto His prophets. As we can see by the angel’s interpretation of Daniel’s four beasts, there is no room left for speculation as to what the vision symbolized.

Daniel, in chapter seven, having been desirous to “know the truth of the fourth beast which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, and of the ten horns that were on his head,” was enlightened by an angel who interpreted the vision for Daniel. “The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms . . .” The angel plainly declares that the four beasts in Daniel’s vision are four civil, or municipal, kingdoms and hence the term “Beast” is used as a prophetic symbol for earthly civil kingdoms.

Come out of her My people . . .  (America Series – Part three)

Re 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.  2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

After John was explained the mystery of “the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many water,” now enters the last angel which is mentioned that comes down from heaven prior to the Lord’s return. While I mentioned in an earlier post that the waters represented “peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues” as Rev 17:15 states, the foothold presence of the American military is literally all over the world and on “many waters” as well. Here in chapter 18 we are seeing an angel comes from heaven with such great power and authority that the earth will be lightened with his glory of his descent. Now, whether this lightening of the earth is literal by the angel, or prophetic of something else, we can but only speculate. However, what we can be sure of is that the fall of Babylon the great into perdition has begun at this time.

The motivation of God’s judgment against America is multi-facet, but primarily because this country has become the habitation of devils, which is implied by how the demonic powers would resort here as birds in a “cage.” The use of the word “cage” is not to imply imprisonment, but rather more of an assigned territory whereby they tirelessly labor lay hold upon the inhabitants of the land with their seductive deceptions. Their presence and workings are witnessed by their descriptions as unclean and hateful birds, creatures of opportunity seeking easy for easy prey and consuming every seed of truth not buried in the heart of the hearer.

Before the Seventy Weeks (America – part 4)

It is assertedby those who embrace the doctrine of a seven-year tribulation period that its primary scriptural foundation comes from Daniel chapter 9. In this chapter the angel  Gabriel tells Daniel that “At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.” Gabriel then continues by telling Daniel of the vision that “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city.”

We must remember that Gabriel was sent forth at the beginning of Daniel’s supplications when he was confessing his own sins and the sins of Israel. Therefore the “matter . . . and the vision” Gabriel was sent to help Daniel understand was connected to his prayer for Israel in captivity. There were seven specific things Gabriel prefaces this “understanding” of the vision with.

  1. It was a period of time (seventy weeks) regarding Daniel’s people and the holy city (Jerusalem)
  2. It was to “finish the transgression”
  3. It was to “make an end of sins”
  4. It was to “make reconciliation for iniquity”
  5. It was to “bring in everlasting righteousness”
  6. It was to “seal up the vision and the prophesy”
  7. It was to “to anoint the most Holy”

Gabriel then proceeds by dividing up the seventy weeks into three specific time periods-

  1. Seven weeks               7
  2. Sixty two weeks           62 + 7 = 69
  3. The last week              69 +1 = 70

Da 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

It is this seventieth week that has become known as the Seven Year Tribulation and is being referenced to Daniel in 9:27. Therefore I wished to start this post by listing  the particulars of the seventy weeks vision.

 Is America Missing in Prophecy?

If you are an American Christian, I feel that you owe it to yourself to prayerfully consider the following. It is a progressive reasoning of just how America may well be mentioned in scriptures.

We hear it all the time, “Isn’t it amazing that the scriptures are silent about America?” And I thought the same thing myself, at one time, but I don’t believe it to be so anymore. Therefore, I submit the following for those concerned enough to prayerfully ponder whether America is, or is not, in scriptures.

Please do not assume I am anti-America. I’m not. I simply believe God is going to deal with the sins of America like does with every nation. I have only submitted a fraction of information available as  it can be overwhelming to some when first considering this concept. Also, I will endeavor to satisfy any questions posed.

Thank you.

“Here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.”

The End of America

In light of the current world events, I feel it is worth everyone’s time to not only watch the two videos, but to read John Price’s book as well.

The beast that thou sawest was, and is not;and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. Re 17:8

This verse tells me that the Church should not be “wondering,” but rather aware as God’s children of light.
