I am admittedly late with this post as I felt the Lord impressed this upon me as everything was happening with Kim Davis, the county clerk of Rowan County, Kentucky who was jailed for contempt of court by U.S. District Judge David Bunning for defying his order for her to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. How much more does all this need to said now that the Appeals Court has rejected her lawyers request for an appeal today, Thursday, September 17th which just so happens to be Constitution Day?
What few people seem to grasp, the judge included, is that licenses are regulated by legislation that specifically defines the parameters whereby a license can be obtained. While that is not the heart of this post, let’s just ever so briefly address it for those who still might not be getting the real point here with legal licensing issuance. To make the concept perhaps easier for people let’s look at other licenses that are required by law, legislated law, for certain privileges enjoyed in the sovereign states of the good ole’ USA.
Since almost everyone aspires to have and maintain a driver’s license, let’s first look at that license. There are many regulations that control the issuing of them, from age requirement, driving ability and both knowledge and compliance with the law. We all know if the certain laws are broken then one’s drivers license can be revoked. What we see here is that drivers licenses are considered “a privilege” and in order to secure one a person must be able to satisfy multiple requirements that are spelt out in the regulatory laws governing their issuance.
Next consider briefly the issuance of business and professional licenses. Now we all know that there are very few professions nowadays that are not regulated by stringent government requirements if one is to legally run a business or be licensed as a professional, be it a lawyer, doctor, plumber, building contractor, etc., etc. So no one legally can just put up a sign out front and just start doing business as a professional unless they have proven they met the legal requirements that were legislated to protect the public.
Now with that brief backdrop, a marriage license (which isn’t mentioned in scripture as it intrudes into institutions of established and ultimately regulated by God) in Kentucky is still primarily regulated by the simple legislated stipulation that it is for the marriage between one man and one woman. If those seeking a marriage license fall into any other combination of gender then there currently doesn’t exist a legal foundation on which a Kentucky marriage license could lawfully be issued to them; meaning all such issued marriage licenses lack the authority of the law behind them. Just because people are forced to dispense them doesn’t make them legal anymore than saying over and over again that the SCOTUS made it a federal law makes that fallacy a reality.
Now to the point, scripture states that “God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” That verse right there is perhaps the greatest foundation for truly gaining understanding as to why God allowed what happened to Kim Davis, a fairly young yet firm believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. For God allowed her to be put nationally into the public eye while a variety of governing and political powers began to publicly issuing condemnations against her on the foundation that an elected government official is required to both keep and enforce the laws that exist under their jurisdiction whether they agree with them or not.
However, though grossly misrepresented as a law-breaker, Kim Davis was in truth doing exactly the exact opposite of what they accused her of. Which now brings the following passage of scripture into play concerning their stance before the Judge of the whole earth.
Matthew 7:1 – Judge not, that you may not be judged. 2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you shall be judged; and with whatever measure you measure out, it shall be measured to you again.
For it is evident to most of us that many of Kim’s accusers themselves have histories of their own willful negligence to enforce clear legislated laws under their personal jurisdiction and/or abusively enforcing them well outside their legal parameters for the promotion of their own political agendas. Do you think all this isn’t significant? Be not deceived. Consider Peter’s admonition below –
1 Peter 3:14 – But if you also suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. And do not fear their fear, nor be troubled, 15 but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason of the hope in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that while they speak against you as evildoers they may be ashamed, those falsely accusing your good behavior in Christ. 17 For it is better, if the will of God wills it, to suffer for well-doing than for evil-doing.
Peter wrote “that while they speak against you as evildoers they may be ashamed, those falsely accusing your good behavior in Christ,” and that Greek word translated “ashamed” is the same word that was used in confounded God choosing “the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” For when the righteous are so persecuted, then let the wicked understand that Jesus stated, “inasmuch as you did it unto one of the least of these My brothers, you did it unto Me.”
Do you think God will show mercy on those who falsely condemned the righteous so blatantly and refused to measure out mercy? May your answer be correctly founded upon the words of Jesus Christ.
Luke 6:32 – For if you love those who love you, what thanks do you have? For sinners also love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what thanks do you have? For sinners also do the same. 34 And if you lend to those of whom you hope to receive, what thanks do you have? For sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return. And your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest. For He is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. 36 Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. 37 Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you shall be forgiven. 38 Give, and it shall be given to you, good measure pressed down and shaken together and running over, they shall give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you measure, it shall be measured to you again.
Be not deceived, for God has used righteous His servant Kim Davis in such a way so as to permit the wicked rulers of America to openly condemn their own selves and actions before a whole world that is watching and witnessing boldface hypocrisy. Though the righteous see it, none of the wicked lay it to heart. Be assured, this was all a God-sent prelude to their judgment to justify their own destruction that is not far off. For those who know American revival history will recall how Jonathan Edwards sermon that invoked the Great Awakening was founded upon the scripture below. Shall it not also be the one that brings her final judgment upon her?
Deuteronomy 32:35 – To Me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.
I am afraid that too few realize that what God allowed to happen to His servant Kim Davis is a sure sign that we are drawing nigh to that “due time” for America and her “calamity is at hand.”
“That the Reason why they are not fallen already,
and don’t fall now, is only that God’s appointed
Time is not come. For it is said, that when
that due Time, or appointed Time comes, their
Foot shall slide. Then they shall be left to fall as
they are inclined by their own Weight. God won’t
hold them up in these slippery Places any longer,
but will let them go; and then, at that very Instant,
they shall fall into Destruction; as he that stands in
such slippery declining Ground on the Edge of a
Pit that he can’t stand alone, when he is let go he
immediately falls and is lost.”
From the sermon “Sinners in hands of an angry God” delivered to America by God through His faithful servant Jonathan Edwards

It is true Brother Arthur, for God will not deny Himself nor neglect His righteous precepts that were ordained for life but will also condemn the wicked… and oh how the wicked seem to be hastening their own judgment these days.
Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up… they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire…

The Biblical justifications, while certainly interesting, are irrelevant to the laws surrounding this case. The SCOTUS ruling in Obergefell made void the use of gender as a qualifier for marriage in all states, invalidating that aspect of any law in all 50. There are laws defining the scope of practice for a County Clerk. Clerks do not have the power to make judgments about the validity of laws, as a lawyer, judge or legislator does. Mrs. Davis has the right as a private citizen to hold her choice of religious beliefs, but no right to exercise them through her government post, falsely representing her personal beliefs AS IF they are the government’s position. There are also laws against ordering subordinate employees to break the law, as Mrs. Davis did when initially obstructing her deputies from complying with a direct court order to issue the licenses to all qualified applicants.
All things considered, I think she was fortunate to have spent so little time in jail.

You are wrong and apparently drinking the kool aid Mikey, Kim Davis broke no laws, the Judge who placed her into jail for contempt of court did because apparently he has contempt for the laws of Kentucky and anyone who upholds them. He is a proud and arrogant man who like the POTUS and the consenting members of the SCOTUS has placed themselves above the laws of the land feeling their authority is greater than the rule of law. That is a dictatorship and not a republic. However, when people ignorant of the constraints of the law that govern the elected overseers thereof yield to such abuses by people elected to be stewards of the laws, then authority recognized is power given.
So it doesn’t matter how much you and others may protest and stand with the wicked in condemnation of the righteous, i.e., Kim Davis, the SCOTUS can only interpret constitutional and legislated law. It and this Judge David Bunning are elected officials serving in a branch of government which has no authority to amend existing laws or to legislate law new laws. Like it or not, here is simply no law in Kentucky that clearly gives Kim Davis or her staff the authority to legally issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, for as it stands currently the regulatory guidelines governing the issuance of marriage licenses in Kentucky specifically speaks of one man and one woman. However, just like the POTUS, they too can and and have usurped authority and have now erred from the precepts of the law to protect the sanctity of marriage just like the rebellious wife who rejects the covering of her husband as divine precept instituted by God for her benefit. The end is never pretty.
I do however agree with you last statement, “All things considered, I think she was fortunate to have spent so little time in jail,” but only because unlike you I do consider “all things.”
Matthew 5:11 – Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Acts 5:41 – And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.
1 Peter 4:14 – If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
Revelations 2:10 – Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
So, just who do you serve Invisible Mikey? Be assured God clearly see your heart and that you too will give an account for whose you authority you choose to give power in your life by recognizing it as supreme.
Acts 5:29 – Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

I don’t care how many times I hear this argument that the SCOTUS can’t “make” law, it’s still an ignorant notion. The power of judicial review, their ability to judge the constitutionality of state and local laws is an implied power under Articles 3 and 4 of the Constitution itself, and was confirmed by Marbury v. Madison in 1803.
The provisions relating to the federal judicial power in Article III state:
“ The judicial power of the United States, shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. . . . The judicial power shall extend to all cases, in law and equity, arising under this Constitution, the laws of the United States, and treaties made, or which shall be made, under their authority. . . . In all cases affecting ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, and those in which a state shall be party, the Supreme Court shall have original jurisdiction. In all the other cases before mentioned, the Supreme Court shall have appellate jurisdiction, both as to law and fact, with such exceptions, and under such regulations as the Congress shall make. ”
The Supremacy Clause of Article VI states:
“ This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. . . . [A]ll executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution.”
They CAN strike down any law, or even a PART of a law they deem unconstitutional, and have ever since that 1803 case. Obergefell this past summer established that gender can NOT be used to qualify two consenting adults for CIVIL marriage, and it HAS the force of law IN ALL 50 STATES. The part of KY law stating marriage is only allowed between one man and one woman IS NOW VOID.
But of course this is not why Mrs. Davis was jailed. She objected to fulfilling this change in law, an act outside her legal scope of practice no clerk is allowed, and despite appeals all the way up to SCOTUS, she lost her case. After her losses, she continued to defy a direct, legal order to supply the licenses, as well as interfering with subordinates attempting to comply. No judge at any level takes such defiance lightly. No one gets to refuse court decisions after appellate loss. She can submit or quit, that’s it. A compromise was reached when she promised to no longer obstruct deputies willing to supply the licenses to those qualified, which has been happening since her return to work.

Gee Mikey, we all know they can “CAN strike down any law, or even a PART of a law they deem unconstitutional,” it seems one of the things they cannot do IS MAKE LAW.
SO, if what you say is true that “The part of KY law stating marriage is only allowed between one man and one woman IS NOW VOID,” then there simply is no legal regulatory statutes for KY marriage licenses to be issued… and it really doesn’t matter how annoyed you get over hearing that, it’s the truth.
Therefore until each sovereign state legislates new regulatory marriage licensing laws that ARE NOT defined as between one man and one woman, but redefined with the blasphemous notion that two people of like gender can be married, then no approved marriage statutes exists that can authorize the issuance of marriage licenses to couples of like gender. Sadly, the absurdity of that notion is as ridiculous as two men or just two women being stranded alone on an island would be able to procreate and preserve the species. If it didn’t go against God’s holy precepts, I’d say it’s worth letting them all give it a try.
Once the government decided to interfere and regulate God’s institution of marriage it was only a matter of time until all this nonsense was going to happen and the equally absurd notion that has a rising popularity that kids don’t belong to parents as part of the sovereign family nucleus. That’s because a marriage license issued by the government by the very nature of the beast allows it to assume governing authority over the marriage and all the byproducts of the now government legalized institution.
Plainly put, there never should have been any regulatory interference of the government into the things of God. But, of course, they want God’s position so they usurped it. It used to be the simple documentation of marriage vows in the family bible was suffice to satisfy the courts where they recognized a marriage as legitimate before God. Now their attitude is the heck with God, if we don’t license it and say it’s ok it then we will not recognize it as legitimate.
Go ahead and embrace the beast Mikey, maybe it won’t eat you right away since you are so willing to rub its tummy.

You clearly seem ignorant of Jesus’ discourse with the woman at the well who had five husbands and was living with another man at the time… or maybe it is just that you simply do not know Jesus Christ personally.
1 Timothy 1:15 – This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
If you knew me before I was a Christian you’d probably want to stone me too. But the most important question today is whether you accept this as true or not? Because to me you seem to be standing with some very poor company…
John 8:3-7 – And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest Thou? 6 This they said, tempting Him, that they might have to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not. So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

You had me convinced, until your last statement. Everyone conveniently forgets the last part of what Christ said to the woman once he forgave her, “…go and sin no more.”, or more specifically John 8:8-11
8 And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. 9 But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”
Now as for the particular case of Kim Davis, I don’t know the facts – just what’s reported here and there in various media and blogs. But the truth is that if she truly believes and belongs to Christ then she is now living a chaste life on her own. Or as another version asserted, she remarried one of her husbands – then if she “remarried” her first covenant husband then she truly is a child of Christ and has returned to the ‘husband of her youth’. Which is even better, since the way of Christ is repentance, reconciliation and restoration.
So the divorces could be totally irrelevant as she is now a child of Christ, or they could be very relevant, if she is still living in sin. Forgiveness is wonderful and being close to Christ is also. But it also means living a Christ-like life and obeying His commandments.

Alencon,
It really isn’t my job to convince you of anything, for as Charles Hadden Spurgeon said, “Yet for all this, to what avail is the loudest declaration to a deaf man, or the clearest showing to one spiritually blind? God the Holy Ghost must illuminate us, or all the suns in the milky way never will.” For my purpose in sharing John 8:3-7 was to address the pharisees and their attitude and not the woman’s sin. Thus it wasn’t included, not out of neglect, but simply because it wasn’t the focus of my response. Had there been an engagement of an open exegesis of John 8, then of course we would have address all the particulars of the entire chapter with its specific intents, including the complete discourses and definitive roles of all the participants, i.e., the accusers, the disciples, the woman and of course Jesus Himself.
However, concerning Kim Davis, it is highly unlikely her marriage history which was clearly brought forth to slander her and discredit her stance, could have all occurred within her brief four years of being a Christian. And since you admittedly “don’t know the facts,” then you are expected by the scriptures to believe all things and think no evil towards another believer. Is there anything that gives you just cause to believe that she currently is not “living a Christ-like life and obeying His commandments?” If not than why labor for the opponent and carry on their agenda of suspicion?
And if you have been equally told that the world will say all manner of evil against believers falsely, wouldn’t it be prudent to hold them in suspicion before a fellow believer?

I have left more than one well paying job because of the requirements of the job began to violate the principles of the Word. “Christianity” or God’s Word is there to direct people. Many mistakenly believe that the rule of law is founded from the Word. The constitution was founded by men who claimed they knew God and yet had in common in a very distinct membership in another group.
While these things have meshed together and worked together for some 200 years they are moving away from each other very quickly.
Get a hold on this, Christ and His Word and His people are the very last thing that the laws of America will protect.
If you are akin to Christ the world hates you without a word from your mouth. That is the way it is.
Step away from the beast system.
